PARIS LEGAKIS (GREECE|US) was born in 1981, Athens, Greece. Currently, he is studying in NYU in the MA program of ‘Performance Studies,’ Tisch, US. In 2012, he finished the MFA program ‘Public Art and New Artistic Strategies’ in the Bauhaus University-Weimar, Germany and in 2009 he graduated from ‘Athens School of Fine Arts.’ In 2013, he did two art residency programs in South Korea, ‘Incheon Art Platform’ and ‘Honguen Seoul Art Space.’ He will be part of the ‘Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space,’ 2015. In his work, Paris examines the relation between art and society, mainly by focusing his research on the notion of borders in geopolitical and social level. His work balances between visual and performing arts, and he creates solo and site-specific participatory performances. Public space plays a core role in his work and he approaches political art as a way that may lead to social change. His projects have been presented in Europe, USA and Asia.
